RISK ASSESMENTS

SECURITY SURVEYS

The fundamental function of a security survey is to identify any and all short comings on the clients existing security procedures in the controls and security functions conducted in securing the premises, assets and employees. This provides for the development of accurate and cost effective security measures / procedures to counter any losses being experienced

SECURITY EVALUATION

This goes hand in hand with security surveys but also includes all technical systems in the control of movement on the premises or between departments.

SECURITY WORK PROCEDURES

This also goes hand in hand with the security surveys whereby the end product will be to provide for the client a detailed works procedure on security functions to be performed as well as for this to form part of the clients documentation as required for their SABS / Health and Safety and Security Audits.

DRAFT OF SECURITY DOCUMENTATION / REGISTERS

An independent check on all documentation / registers security related to ensure that this complies with the proper document of all entering / exiting the premises being assets / stock / employees / visitors / contractors.

TRAINING ON SECURITY WORK PROCEDURES

The physical training of security staff being a security service provider or in-house staff acting as the security barrier on all security work procedures designed or evaluated. In most cases this will be done on site with the required parties involved.

SECURITY / INCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS

A comprehensive and detailed investigation on any and all security / incident investigations to determine the root cause as well as to build the required evidence for possible convictions of involved parties. Also to provide for the re-assessment of work procedures and recommendations to be identified to prevent such occurrence from happening again.

MAN POWER ASSESSMENTS / RECOMMENDATIONS

To be done as a cost saving exercise or alternatively to identify that any and all recommendations provided by the security service provider are to the benefit and not the risk to the client. It is also there for the protection on the client’s interest to ensure that they comply with the legal requirements as per PSIRA of the functionality of the security officers appointed per grade for the certain positions / functions.

TENDER PROCESS FACILITATION / MANAGEMENT

Exactly what the wording describes, we will assist the client in facilitating the tender process in the appointment of a new security service provider and to ensure that the needs of the client as identified per the RFQ is put first. This will include ensuring that the respective security service providers are in line with the market related costs in the field as well as that they comply with any and all statutory regulations as described within the PSIRA regulations act. This process could be driven by us to save the client time spend on the process whereby the three suitable candidates will do final presentations to the tender panel for final decision making.

ON SITE SECURITY MANAGEMENT

An on-site permanent / dedicated manager appointed to oversee the client’s needs in any and all security related matters, this normally on bigger contract sizes where multiple entrances / exits and functions are covered by a security service providers. The on-site manager will also compile daily / weekly / monthly activity reports and also ensure that all security related procedures is up to date and that compliance to this is carried out continuously. Responses to incidents / accidents and the investigation thereof will also form part of his / her portfolio.

NEW BUILDING SECURITY / PROJECT SECURITY ASSESSMENTS AND MANAGEMENT

A dedicated person / team to be allocated in such instance for the full layout of a comprehensive security solution before / while a new building or project is ongoing. This will include full facilitation of security designs and the provision of quotations for security system installations.

SECURITY SYSTEM DESIGNS

The design or evaluation of security systems as well as the provision of a comprehensive security solution tailor made to the clients requirements or recommendations made. The best solution in protecting the premises, assets and employees with a cost effective factor build-in.

INDEPENDENT STOCK TAKE SERVICES / VERIFICATION

The physical check of stock whenever required in ensuring that an independent check is done in accordance to the physical stock on the ground within the designated perimeters of the premises or any other sub-storage facility as indicated. This will normally be done by a team of people depending on the size and requirements as set.

CRIMINAL CHECKS / VERIFICATION

This includes a full check by using the individual’s finger prints in determining if he / she had or has any criminal convictions against their names. This should be done every six months on any member of a security team to ensure that they did not get involved in any criminal activity especially when they went on leave or alternatively while they worked at previous security companies. Please note that the ratio of security officers being fired from their employers within the security industry is very high as a result of the temptation of clients commodities and the removal and selling thereof to obtain extra income (security industry wages is basically the lowest in the country hence the high volume of theft taking place with security officers in most of the cases being involved). It is as a result of this that a proper criminal vetting service must be conducted accordingly.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CHECKS / VERIFICATION

This goes hand in hand with the criminal check / verification process as any member with a huge amount of debt being employed as a security officer will in all likelihood be involved, will get involved or will be approached in forming part of criminal activities on client premises.

TRACING CHECKS / VERIFICATION

The tracing of individuals owing your company monies especially form a debt collector’s point of view.

PRIVATE SECURITY INDUSTRY REGULATORY AUTHORITY CHECKS / VERIFICATION OF SERVICE PROVIDER AND OFFICERS

This can be done to ensure that your current service provider and their officers are adhering to government legislation and that all affiliations is above board (UIF, WCA, SDL, Provident Fund, PSIRA Registration, Company Registration, VAT registration, Affiliations as indicated is correct). This goes hand in hand with the tender processes as well and the most important factor is to ensure that they comply in paying the security officers deployed the regulated wage costs as stipulated within the new Sectoral Determination 6 as amended in September 2012 with the new wage agreement.

HEALTH AND SAFETY ASSESSMENTS ON SECURITY FUNCTIONS

A detailed health and safety assessment will be done in all functions whereby the security officer physically have to perform duties that might from time to time place any part of his / her body in harm’s way, this by operating a manual boom, conducting patrols, operating a manual gate, ect. In terms of all legal requirements especially that of the Occupational Health and Safety such assessments will form part of your SABS, Health and Safety and Security Audits whereby copies of such assessments will form part of the security work procedures on site.
